Afternoon. Since yesterday the Met Office has put London and Surrey under a yellow wind warning for Friday. Two sets of roadworks now run later than first listed, the council leader says the Christmas market returns next month, and Remembrance arrangements are out. Then the rest of today and the weekend.
A yellow wind warning now covers London and Surrey from 10am to 9pm on Friday, with inland gusts of 45 to 55mph possible. The Met Office says trees still in full leaf bring a risk of power cuts and bus and train disruption. Kingston's forecast has heavy rain from early morning to about 2pm, then lighter rain to 5pm and dry from about 8. The wind peaks at 48mph around 2pm and stays at 40mph or more until about 8.
Bring in bins, garden furniture and trampolines tonight and charge your phone. For a power cut, call 105 free; it reaches UKPN.
Saturday is wet from mid-morning, with heavy rain from noon to 9pm and gusts of 40 to 44mph from 3pm. Sunday is dry and sunny but gusty, up to 43mph in the morning. Monday is mild with light rain, 18, and the week turns brighter from Tuesday lunchtime.
UKPN's lane closure on Hook Road south of the A3 started this morning and runs to 19 November. SGN's gas signals by the Maypole now run to Tuesday 27th on SGN's permit, though TfL still lists Friday. SGN's closure of St Matthew's Avenue has also been extended, to Wednesday 28th.
The Upper Brighton Road signals at Lovelace Gardens are listed until 5pm today. TfL has permits to close the Hook underpass on the Kingston Bypass for maintenance between 10pm on Monday and 5am on Wednesday; they don't say whether that is continuous or overnight only. Hook Rise North and South have closures listed for the same window. The Maple Road signals and the Cadogan Road closure are due to start on Saturday and run to 7 November.
Council leader Andreas Kirsch says more of Kingston Market's unaffected stalls are reopening through the week, and the council is working with Between the Bridges on temporary stalls for those who lost theirs. He also says the Christmas market returns next month, with an ice garden in Memorial Gardens and a helter skelter and carousel at All Saints. No dates yet. The fishmonger's fundraiser has reached £14,574.
